The perfect mix of country and city in the heart of Somerset

The Lauriston is a wonderfully warm, friendly and spacious hotel, with a picturesque seafront location in the heart of the Somerset countryside; It is easy to forget that Weston-super-Mare, with its wide range of shops, restaurants and activities is just a stone’s throw away.

A potted history of the Lauriston Hotel

Princess Alexandra opened the Lauriston Hotel on 8th July 1964. She visited again on 8th June 1995 and was given a guided tour of the new rooms and met guests and staff at a special gala luncheon in a marquee on the lawns.

The Lauriston was originally three different houses called Standen, Beachfield and Lauriston. Action for Blind People bought Lauriston House in the first instance and then Stadnen House. Before they bought Beachfield House, guests staying at Standen House would walk around the outside of the building to come to the Lauriston Hotel for meals as there was no adjoining interior corridor.
