Closure of the Russell Hotel
The Russell Hotel will cease trading on Monday 31 March, so that its sale to Livability, for conversion into a care home, can be completed.
Guests with bookings from Tuesday 01 April are being contacted and offered either a similar booking at another Vision Hotel on the same terms, or a full refund.
The pool at the Russell Hotel will also close on Monday 31 March.
The Russell Hotel had been attracting fewer blind and partially sighted guests than the charity’s three other Vision Hotels. Therefore, after much consideration, Action decided to accept an offer by Livability to purchase the hotel. This was subject to planning consent, granted by the local authority on 12 March.
We now anticipate exchange of ownership will take place in late April. Money raised from the sale of the Russell will be used to continue providing the best possible support to blind and partially sighted people.
