A suitable level of fitness is needed for all walks and some experience is expected from the intermediate and high level walkers. Please provide your own, comfortable walking boots, fully waterproof jacket, some spare clothing and if possible waterproof trousers. If needed we can provide a rucksack, walking poles and certain sizes of trousers.

We supply all packed lunches and bottled water but you amy wish to bring your own flask.Walsk are led by a qualified group leader and our dediacted, friendly volunteers will help guide where needed so that you can relax and enjoy your week. Please note the group guide has the right to refuse to take someone on the walk if in their opinion the route is not suitable for them.

Guide dogs are welcome on the low level walks. However the intermediate level and high level walks are not suitable for guide dogs mainly due to the rough terrain, distances walked and safety aspects of the activity.

Low Level Walking

Expect four full days out walking in spectacular countryside with some moderate up and down hill walking as well as along lake shores and through woodland. Correct footwear is essential. A good level of fitness is needed as we will walk between 5 and 7 miles in a day, having our picnic lunch along the way.

Intermediate Walking

We provide information on arrival and there is time for leisure as well as our full days out walking. Each walk will cover around 7 to 9 miles with some steep uphill walks aswell as more moderate circular routes visiting different areas of the National Park. The routes will include intermediate hills (350m to 450m or 900ft to 1,400ft), sections of the Cumbria Way, steeper uphill tracks and paths through woodland. Good stamina and some hill walking experience help make the most of the ruggedly beautiful and interestuing terrain.

High Level Walking

Walking up to some of the Lake Districts high mountain tops will require full days of strenuous walking. Hill walking experience is expected as is a good level of fitness in order to climb and descent heights of 3,000 ft. (950m) and distances of 8, 9 or 10 miles. We will walk Monday to Friday with a rest day on Wednesday when a hotel excursion will be available to you.
